UV lamps for disinfection destroy and change the DNA structure of microorganisms by irradiation with UV-C rays, with the aim of preventing their spread. The effectiveness of the result depends on the type of UV light; the C band of UV rays is more easily absorbed by DNA, especially the ultraviolet with a wavelength of approximately 253.7nm, so that the spread of bacteria can be stopped more easily. Disinfection by UV rays is physical, easy to control and of high efficiency. With the introduction of new models of UV lamps on the market, their use for sterilization continued to expand.
Most sterilization lamp tubes are made of quartz, because after studies it was found that this is the best material for transmitting UV waves (it can transmit up to 80-90%).
The lifetime of the quartz tube is 8000h and it is recommended to replace it after this period.
